EDLM 626 Development of Libraries in Society (online) – Christy Payne
All of you know this class, but you might want to keep it in mind as you promote our profession to others.
EDLM 621 Cataloging and Classification (ITV rooms in Newark & Georgetown) – Pat Bartoshevsky
Pat has been working since early spring when she agreed to teach this course. She is very excited about it and hopes to make you LOVE cataloging. (or at least not hate it!)
I will be officially retired from UD on June 30. However, I will be immediately rehired as a part-time professional to coordinate the School Library Media Program until a position is funded (hopefully within 1-2 years).
I can always be reached by email which I’ll check daily unless traveling. I will be in the office about once a week, probably on Wednesdays. My office phone will remain the same, but I’ll only be in to check it weekly (302-831-6308). Work is heaviest at the beginnings and ends of semesters, so travel plans will be arranged accordingly. I will be certain to alert you if I expect to be away for any extended period of time.
I will still be in touch with all of you periodically.

It is designed to give an overview of the profession and allows folks to discern if it is really the direction in which they want to go.
EDLM 621 Reference Services and Resources – 7.5 week course taught by Suzanne Smith - Expect lots of work in this valuable course (thus the 7.5 verses the 5 week session)
EDLM 628 School Library Media Program Curriculum – 5 week course taught by Ed Hockersmith – You should know AASL and curriculum standards inside out and backwards after this class.
EDUC 602 – Childhood Literature taught by Elisabeth Simmons: If you intend to take this course, register ASAP.
If you are in the master’s program, remember to take the three portfolio courses at the appropriate times (EDUC 648 initial, EDUC 748 mid-way, and EDUC769 your final summer).
EDUC 746 – Internship in Library Media: This is underway with the first meetings of interns and mentors completed.
1/27/10 I just received word that UD’s School Library Media program has received NCATE/AASL recognition. (report filed in September) Woopie!

We have been offering our pre-requisite course, Development of Libraries in Society each fall and spring for several years. After some deliberate consideration, we are going to begin offering it in the fall (one class currently in progress) and in the summer. There have been numerous teachers who wish to begin the school library media program in the summer, and our pre-requisite course has not be available.
If you know of people interested in beginning our program, please pass the word that this foundational course will be offered this coming summer of 2010. It will continue to be an online course taught by Christy Payne, and it will run during the seven and one-half week session.
We’ll evaluate this particular sequence to see if it better suits out candidates.
